Classic Car Insurance Specialized Coverage
Valuable Classic Car Insurance
Traditional car insurance providers provide insurance on cars based purely on their bluebook values. For the most part they do not provide any sort of accident reimbursement for the true value of a car. For example, if you've upgraded your car since you bought it, don't expect the insurance company to reimburse you for those expenses in the event of an accident. Or, if you've got a perfectly maintained classic car from the 1930s, don't expect to get a payment from your insurance company anywhere near what you would get if you sold the car to a collector.
This is where the need for specialized classic car insurance policies comes in to play. These classic car insurance policies value your car at an agreed upon amount, or an amount provided by an appraiser. If you buy comprehensive classic car insurance, you can be sure that on those weekend afternoons when you want a classic spin or when you want to take your car to a show, you will be fully covered if your car is damaged in an accident or stolen. Only classic car insurance companies will cover the full value.
The fact is that if you own a collectible car, you must still have it insured if you want to drive it around. If you're comfortable with a simple liability policy, that is a policy that covers other drivers' cars but not your classic car, then you can go with a traditional car insurance policy. But if you want your car to be covered too and you are buying a comprehensive policy, there is no reason to buy it from a traditional insurer as your car simply will not be covered to its full value. Only a classic car insurance policy will provide you with full comprehensive coverage of your classic car or highly customized car.
It is important to note that classic car insurance providers are typically specialized insurance companies. Not only do they tend to only offer insurance for classic and customized cars, they often limit their coverage to only a few specific car makes and models. Many of these classic car insurance providers are so specialized as to offer only one or two comprehensive insurance policies tailored to only one or two types of cars. This makes it a little harder to find a classic car insurance provider who will insure your car, but it is in some ways a benefit as it means you'll be dealing with an insurance company that truly understands your car and its value.
